Foundation United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund UNICEF was created by General Assembly of United Nations.It was established by on 11 December in 1946 after 2nd World war.

UNICEF Means
It means The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund. UNICEF is a convention for the children who have rights. It is a United Nation Program established for children’s guidance .Its Headquarter is in New York City .It is created for the promotion of assistance and welfare of children’s and mothers in the developing countries. UNICEF is also the member of United Nations Developing Group. In 1953, UNICEF got a permanent status in United Nations System. 

WORKING OF UNICEF
As it is established for Children welfare, so the basic duty of UNICEF is to provide emergency food, shelter and health treatment to children’s in those countries which were ruined n 2nd World War. This organization mostly work in fields. It also provides medicines Vaccines, food supplements, emergency shelter and life saving medicines for mothers and children. UNICEF’s main aim is to support the ability of children , communities and nations to prevent HIV infection and ensure protection and care for children and young people.

FUND RAISING
UNICEF organization depends on funds for its working. These funds are provided by government and private group. According to an estimate Governments contribution is 2/3 of the total funds. Other sources of funds are various institutions , local government officials, NGOs, doctors , lawyers, corporations, schools, young people and the general public. 90 % of the total Income is used to provide services.

STAFF AND MANAGEMENT
UNICEF ‘s all management takes at its headquarters( i.e in New York City). An Executive Board of UNICEF consists of 36 members. This board appears Policies , Plans and tours .This board comprises governments Representative .The members of this board has been elected for three years by the United Nations Economic and Social council. This organization is infect an intergovernmental organization .The salaries of the members of staff is based on the United Nations Common System. The National Committee raise funds from the private sector.

OBJECTIVES OF UNICEF
UNICEF main aims and objectives are under:
1. UNICEF organization promote the equal rights of children and women and their full participation in every field of life such as political, social and economic development.
2. It discourages child labor
3. UNICEF focuses on giving free education to every child.
4. UNICEF is arranging different programs in different parts of the world to teach parents that boys and girls have same importance and they should be given equal rights .
5. UNICEF is trying its best to minimize the child mortality rate by giving them proper treatment.
6. This organization is also fighting against child exploitation.

Its objectives are very strong .However , this organization also faces criticism. As in some areas of the world death rate of child has increased ( in some areas of Africa) .This organization also discourages the adoption of child by foreign countries and it has negative impact on orphans.
